There’s something magical about traveling with your sisters. Equal parts chaos, laughter, and “remember when?” moments in the making. Our 6 nights, 7 days trip to Vietnam (not counting the red-eye flight from Mumbai) turned out to be the perfect mix of beaches, food, shopping, and unforgettable experiences, all under ₹1 lakh.
We explored three incredible destinations:
Da Nang
Phu Quoc
Ho Chi Minh City
Two nights in each city, just enough to fall in love with them.
Day 1–2: Lanterns, Crepes & Clouds in Da Nang
Our adventure began in the coastal city of Da Nang. After landing, we checked in the famous Four Points by Sheraton and we did not waste a second and headed straight for a day trip to the charming town of Hoi An.
Hoi An looks like it came straight out of a postcard. Lanterns hanging everywhere, colorful streets, and tiny shops selling everything from handmade bags to souvenirs you suddenly need.
Naturally, we shopped like professionals.
But the real highlight? The Lantern Boat Ride. It was unrealistic and felt like something straight out of a movie with all the divine lantern lights surrounding us when we were cruising through the lake. We tried local tea, Vietnamese crepes, and dumplings from tiny street cafés. Every bite felt authentic and delicious.
The next day we visited the iconic hill station Ba Na Hills , honestly one of the most unique places we’ve been. Think theme park meets European village in the clouds.
From cable cars floating through the mountains to the famous Golden Bridge and the adrenaline rush rides, the entire place felt surreal with its amazing chilly weather
One unexpected but fascinating stop in Ba Na Hills was the Kraft brewery, where we saw the process of how beer is made, a surprisingly cool experience.
Safe to say, Ba Na Hills is a must-visit for both adults and kids.
Day 3–4: Island Life in Phu Quoc
Next stop: paradise.
We flew to the island of Phu Quoc and checked into the stunning Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc.
And wow, what a resort !
Our mornings started with huge breakfast spreads (the kind where you promise yourself “just one plate” and end up with three). The rest of the day was spent doing exactly what island life demands:
Lounging by the pool
Snorkeling in the sea
Relaxing on the beach
Playing volleyball on the sand
The highlight here was riding the world’s longest sea cable car , the legendary Hon Thom Cable Car.
The ride glides over turquoise water and tiny islands before reaching Hon Thom Island, where there’s a fun theme park, beach activities, and little markets for local shopping and food.
It felt like a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
Day 5–6: Shopping & City Vibes in Ho Chi Minh City
Our final destination was the buzzing city of Ho Chi Minh City.
We stayed in the Intercontinental hotel in Saigon
This city is energetic, vibrant, and full of character.
We spent most of our time doing what every traveller secretly loves — shopping. From trendy boutiques to local markets and custom tailors creating beautiful embroidered outfits, it was hard to stop ourselves.
Food was another highlight.
We tried the famous banh mi sandwiches at the legendary Banh Mi Huynh Hoa and had an unforgettable meal at Pizza 4P’s, easily some of the best pizza we’ve had while traveling.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without indulging in Vietnamese massages, which were incredibly relaxing after all the walking.
At night, we visited Bui Vien Walking Street, also known as the party street. The place was buzzing with music, lights, and people… and it was packed even on a Monday night.
One peaceful moment during our stay was visiting the beautiful Tan Dinh Church, famously known as the Pink Church. The pastel pink architecture is stunning, but what stayed with me most was the sense of calm and tranquility inside.
Getting Around Vietnam
One thing that made traveling super easy was the Grab app.
From shopping streets to restaurants and back to our hotel, cars were cheap, convenient, and available everywhere. It made exploring the cities effortless.
The Best Part? The Budget
For a 7-day international trip, the biggest surprise was the cost.
Flights, hotels, food, activities, shopping — everything together came to under ₹1 lakh per person.
For the experiences we had, that’s honestly incredible value.
Final Thoughts
Vietnam gave us beaches, mountains, food, culture, and nightlife, all in one trip.
But more than anything, it gave us memories we’ll laugh about forever.
From bargaining in markets to getting lost in lantern streets, from cable cars over the sea to late-night food runs, this sisters trip was the perfect adventure.
We will definitely require many more visits as one visit is just not enough to experience all the different cities and cultures that Vietnam has to offer.
And if there’s one thing we learned…
Vietnam isn’t just a destination. It’s an experience.
